Time for a catch-up blog. I've had a nice week -- on Saturday walked from Robin Hoods Bay to Whitby along the clifftop with James, stopping to watch the seabirds nesting in the cliff face. So many seabirds, mostly kittiwake gulls, crammed into tiny spaces in the cliff. It seems that whatever the terrain, nature will find a way of adapting to it. We had a meal at the famous Magpie restaurant, and between us, shared a lot of truths and hope through the day.
Sunday radio show. Monday pub quiz, where we improved on last-place finish, because this time around we finished joint-last!!! (with a team that left half-way through) hahaha
Caught up with my Nan in the week.. seeing her every week at the moment. She loves me a lot, for that I'm grateful, and I always think its important to know the people who love you the most, and return it however you can.
I've been doing a lot of PLANNING this week.... for my two biggest events of the year... well, the two which will require the most planning anyway. It seems like I've sent out a zillion text messages this week.
Firstly, I've been planning my 30th birthday.... This has got me thinking a lot about growing up and "aging" ... if i even have the right to use the word aging when i'm not even 30 yet. Initially , I was planning on having two birthday nights - friday: england world cup mathc, saturday: big meal... but the meal is off now because most people were more interested in the friday.... so my 30th birthday will now be watching England v Algeria in the World Cup in a pub beer garden with all my mates around me... and to be quite honest, that's exactly how I want to be spending it.. and a meal might have been a little awkward, integrating people and making sure everyone fits in and enjoys it etc, which I always seem to feel more responsible for than I should!!!!
The other thing I've been planning madly is my half-marathon run on 19th September . . . The Great North Run... I'm running half for Kidscan - Children's cancer charity. and half for York Hospital Radio... and I have persuaded my mate John Garnham to run and do the same. However, this causes problems, when it comes to justgiving web sites etc - i mean, the raising for two charities.....
so we decided the best way to do it... is that all the money I raise goes to Kidscan, and that all the money he raises goes to York Hospital Radio... to make it easier for the two charities to receive the money..... although technically we're still both running for both charities if that makes sense.
We met up last night to talk about it, and plan it all, because it requires quite a lot of planning, and I'm seeing my friend Chris Patterson later tonight who's also running it for Kidscan, and hopefully the three of us are going to get some overnight accommodation booked for the night before.
The best thing, however, about meeting up with John last night, is that he is a massive football fan, and he's got me really excited about the World Cup again. I was worried that I wasn't going to get into it as much this year - but now I can safely say I am... and I'm incredibly excited about England's prospects and the World Cup as a whole... starting June 10th , finishing July 11th. I'm going to have a BIG bet on England to win :-) Ok, this is crazy, but the bet is going to be 200 pounds. It will be worthwhile though, cos I love the World Cup. Simple as.
Been running a lot. This morning, I ran past a car with a sticker that said "PRINCESS ON BOARD" but it was a lie, because there was just an ugly-looking girl in the back seat.
Tonight, I'm playing a poker tournament at a mate's house.. Really looking forward to this, cos I love poker and haven't played for ages. Only five pound buy-in, playing through the night, then radio show tomorrow morning.
