Hello. Blog!
I've had a busy two weeks, and have been out I think every single night, except maybe one.
Last week, me and James managed to come last in the Old White Swan quiz. Even more embarrassing than that, , we got a total of zero points on the picture round. This was despite lots of "I'm sure it's him" or "It has to be her" guesses. However, on the plus side, that won us the biggest round of applause for the night, and we had some great sausages (and sausages feel like good consolation prizes)
I went drinking with Mike Burns, who plays.. sorry, played Colin in the Britass Empire.. he's such a relaxed, down-to-earth, genuine guy.
Played snooker with Pete, but wasn't really in the mood for snooker (THAT is why I lost) then we went to the three-legged mare -- near the minster, which I've been going to a lot lately.
Went to York Races with Neil and Leanne.. A cool thing happened... A woman walked past and without realising, dropped a pen and it landed on our newspaper. The pen was pointing to a page with NEWMARKET racing on.... so even though we were at York races, of course the lucky pen was telling me to bet on something at Newmarket... so I did, and it won!!! The pen didn't have the same luck second time around, but then it did well overall considering it is only a pen.
I also won a race on the outsider. However, there were only 5 horses and so the outsider was 6-1. At the end, concluding all York and Newmarket bets, I finished a total of £1 up!!! Lol, I'll have to keep track of my record for the year. For the last two years, I've been to every meeting, but I'm not going to go as much this year due to job, finances etc.
My job is the most boring thing ever!! I have applied for another job at (I think it's called Grant Rail).. or something? in the centre of York....
Last saturday, a really cool unique opportunity!! I was judge in "Nurse Factor"... X-Factor with Nurses"" what could be better.... I went along knowing no-one except my friend John Garnham who thankfully went with me for support. Sat on a panel of three, with two women judges, and watched various singing, dancing, humorous acts put together by the nurses of 3 of the hospital wards. The event was at a social club with a big stage - The Health Service Club - and was raising money for new equipment for the hospital - so a great cause.
Judging was a laugh.. especially as a little boy enjoyed offering his opinion with me. I wasn't too Simon Cowell-ish but managed some fun laughs, like saying someone was terrible then getting booed!! Haha, I had to do that. Great fun feeling like Simon Cowell for the evening. The event was won by two women dressed in wobbly fat costumes doing dances to pop songs like Ice Ice Baby! haha
Went to Wembley on Sunday... 8 of us... and various other City fans who i met there.. we went out to a pub in Kings Cross... which ironically i used to frequent when I stayed in London more... then headed over to the ground..... Unfortunately , City lost 3-1... so failed to get promoted, and that bit was gutting.... Atmosphere and fans at Wembley Stadium was great though!!!!
We graced the quiet coach on the way back by blaring out "The bird's the word" tune... (well, there wasn't a loud coach so....)
