Time to catch up with a blog.
Firstly, I have the most boring job in the entire world ever. Glorified data input and a job that i take absolutely nothing from whatsoever, and so need to keep looking once more. ITs so important not to waste time, and I feel like I'm wasting the largest part of 8 hours every week day. Rant over.
Slightly more politics rant before I forget. I know I've ranted about this before on here... but didn't quite put it across as I would have liked.
I didn't vote. The reason being that is my stand. A woman I work with was annoyed with me for not voting, but also said that all the parties are the same and they're all a disgrace (went on to talk about MP's expenses scandal etc) but then she saw it as her duty to vote for one of them.
Ultimately, if our politicians aren't encouraging us to vote, and if politics in this country is extremely dull..mainly due to the dishonesty, false images etc, then it is our choice to be able to stand up for that by not voting. And I don't mean going along and spoiling the paper. I mean I have considered all the options and my choice is to be apathetic.
My weekend's been unusual and really cool in an unusual way. The reason being I hadn't any plans (except to write 2,000 words) all weekend, and my whole weekend got filled with things cropping up on the Internet.
The first thing was that someone has invited me to be a judge next weekend at some "Nurse Factor" - like X-factor with nurses - couldn't say no to that!!!
I've been chatting (via plentyOfFish initially) to a girl who is moving up to York to live. She is from Vancouver and has been in london for a few months. She'll be totally new to York, so I'm going to introduce her to the city, make her feel settled etc. That's really exciting. One of the main reasons is that (apart from the fact she's really excited by her adventure).. is that hardly anyone from abroad comes to live in York. Despite the hoards of tourists, it is one of the least multi-cultural cities in the UK, considering its size.
This girl seems really nice, and it's nice to make a new friend in a new way.
Della (hello if you're reading) returned to the Internet saturday night. I missed her friendship so it was wonderful to catch-up, and have laughs on-line like we used to.
Graham and Paula had a nice weekend away in the lakes - part of me wished i was there, but things were up in the air financially until recently so I didnt want to risk going away. All being well, going away in July though.
This morning, I booked Wembley train tickets. I made a stupid mistake. I booked a ticket for the train going down which turned out to be a ticket for over 60's. This is actually really easy to do, the Web site is silly, my mate would have made the same mistake if I hadn't pointed it out.
York City are at Wembley next Sunday. The whole day will cost me about £150!! Bit upset by that, but will really enjoy the day, so shouldn't complain. I really really hope we win too to get us back in the football league.
Finally, my electronic weekend ended with a lovely chat with Paula tonight.
For the week ahead - monday a meal with James, tuesday samaritans+gillian, wednesday snooker with pete, then friday hopefully hook up with the canadian girl and help her feel at home as she comes up to see her new city :-)
