I have the habit of working in hour bursts, but although I say bursts I'm always doing other things while working on the book simultaneously. I'm really challenging myself but at the same time am enjoying this period of writing. It's very cathartic, productive and meaningful. Even if I stopped now, I would have a body of work that could sit alongside me for life, like a little external part of me I've created.
There's quite a few walk scenes early on in the book, where the character is walking, observing stuff around him, and thinking and thinking and thinking. I love all the time he spends thinking at the start of the book, because it's nice to write without attachment to much storyline or plot for a while, and have that freedom.
Although it's also great now that the storylines are kicking in, because it feels really productive.
